The Golden Veil is now available!

We finally made it!

Happy Friday everybody! As an incredibly heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our followers and supporters, we're releasing the new record a few days early, in time for the weekend. It's been a long time coming, so thanks for hanging in there. We're very proud of this record and we're even more excited to share it with all of you. So thank you, thank you and thank you again. Thank you for the encouragement along the way and to anyone who had a hand in helping make this a're more important to us than you might ever know. Cheers, from the bottom of our blackened hearts.

Also: We've mentioned it a few times and we'll mention it again: We're not sure when the LPs will mail out. We'll send them as soon as we get them though, and all we can tell you is that we expect to get them sometime this September. Hold tight!

Speaking of holding tight, keep yr eyes and ears peeled folks; we're already fast at work on the next release with our new drummer. And speaking of "speaking of"...we said goodbye to Matt Stevenson last time, so let's now introduce the new guy: World, meet Luke Herbst! Man's a bit of a legend and we're super excited to begin this new phase in the life of MAKE!

If you want to buy the LP or the Digital version, click the image below and you'll go straight to the Bandcamp page (if you order the LP you'll get the digital download immediately).

Man, it's been awhile, eh? So yeah we've got this album coming out in a few weeks and we're pretty goddamn excited and proud of it. We stared down the abyss, sat inside the abyss and got comfy, even lost a member and gained another and now we're emerging from that abyss with a lot of shit to share. We guarantee the next two years will be so much more fruitful than the previous two, so just stay tuned and trust. Just wanted to formally say "Hello!" and "Sorry we sat so complacently in the dark abyss for so long, we swear!"

Oh and before I forget, speaking of losing somebody...founding member Matt Stevenson parted ways with the band amicably and with zero bad blood. He needed some time and space to do his own thing, which happens. Hey, it happens. We couldn't have done what we've done and built what we've built without him, so give that son of a gun a round of applause and buy him a drink the next time you see him. Thanks, Matt, you dogfriend. (p.s. keep yr eyes peeled for a new project involving the three of us in the future!)

So anyway, many of you are already aware that on July 20th the album drops, which means the digital version will be live and available. Everybody who pre-orders will get an email and a link to download the album. Couple'a noteworthy things:

  • The digital version is what we're referring to as 'The Director's Cut' meaning this is the album, from beginning to end, as we have envisioned the album's story unfolding. For audio quality's sake we had to cut two tracks from the vinyl version. We chose the two instrumental tracks because we felt this was the only real compromise which made sense. So the vinyl version is essentially the "Rock" version. But hey, I promise it's going to look great and it'll be a nice fat 180g piece of "Hey I supported a band in 2015, isn't that crazy?" that you can feel all warm and fuzzy about. The vinyl will of course come with a download code which includes all the tracks, and a bonus track as well. Come on, get happy!
  • Wе don't have an exact date for when exactly we'll be getting the actual vinyl in our mail. The estimate is September but vinyl is in such high demand and all the plants are backed up so really, who the heck knows. We promise we'll send them out to you as soon as we get them, don't worry. You'll be the coolest fucking kid on the block once your copy arrives so trust, it'll all have been worth it.

Cheers, y'all. - Scott, Spencer and Luke (and Matt)

Thank you one and all, now here's something free!

I'm too lazy to re-type something up for this so here's a copypasta from facebook:

"Hey, y'all! So this is a little bit late, but to thank you all for the support you've given us through 2012, which was a great year for us, here's a NEW and FREE track for your downloading pleasure. It's sort of an outtake for an album which doesn't exist. We don't really know...but we hope you enjoy it nonetheless!"

If you want it, grab it here:

Cheers and thank you!

New album from The Pod up for pre-order:

"The Pod", otherwise known as the solo project of MAKE guitarist Scott Endres, has finished work on a new record titled 'Assassins in the Mirrored Hall' (mastered by MAKE's usual partner in crime, Nick Petersen) and is available for pre-order today.

The pre-order will stay up until enough funds have been raised (either through pre-order sales or Scott's paychecks) to press a bundle of CDs (those who pre-order will, of course, receive the CD once funds have been raised and the CDs are pressed). All pre-orders will give you an immediate digital download of the album along with two pre-order-exclusive bonus tracks not available later on or anywhere else. In addition, the first 20 pre-orders will come bundled with the first The Pod CD, 'Satellite'. And in addition to that the first 10 pre-orders will receive Scott's old psych-rock band SUNTAN's full length 'Send You Home' CD.

This pre-order package deal will update as disc bonuses sell out. If for any reason you wish to opt out of any bonus discs or physical copies, just say so in a message via bandcamp. Liner notes will appear on the physical CD and there will be a special section of thank yous for everyone who pre-orders as a gesture of sincere gratitude.

Here are a few details about this record which may be of interest to you:

* The record is largely inspired by and loosely based on The Book of the New Sun series by Gene Wolfe.

* The Pod in general is comprised of compositions from improvisations which are later cut apart, manipulated and assembled together.

* Both Spencer Lee and Matt Stevenson of MAKE have appearances on this record.

Cheers and thanks for listening!

Well here we are at the end of another long year. A heck of a lot has happened in camp MAKE in 2012 but I'm not going to walk us all back through it. Rather, I'd like to give a special shout-out first to a few people who impacted our year in ways we couldn't have predicted. So, to Darren Taylor, Phil Rhodes, Michelle Temple and Grayson Currin...from the bottom of our hearts: THANK YOU. You know what and you know why.

Second, a huge, heaping pile of eternal gratitude to every reviewer and publication who took the time to not only listen to our music but put their feelings about it in print, every venue, promoter and band we had the pleasure to work or play with and every single one of you who supported us by coming to our shows, through social media or buying our records and helping to put some of that money back in the band fund. Without you this wouldn't be very fun at all, so thank you. We hope to continue pleasing you as we explore the areas of sound which surround us.

Which brings us to the future. While we do not know exactly what 2013 will bring for MAKE, of this we are certain: No matter how it has to happen, 2013 will see the full-length follow-up to 'Trephine' and who knows...maybe more.

One other thing for certain: We'll be playing the last goddamn metal show which DIVEbar in Raleigh will ever host. It's this Saturday night, the 29th. Come help us celebrate the new year's approach!
 R.I.P. DIVEbar 2012.

But hey, it's not all about us. Here's a small insight into our minds with a few of our favorite records of 2012:

Scott Walker - 'Bish Bosch'
Oren Ambarchi - 'Audience of One'

Swans - 'The Seer'
Dragged Into Sunlight - 'Widowmaker'

Carlton Melton - 'Photos of Photos'
Carter Tutti Void - 'Transverse'

Pretty goddamn good list if you ask me. Take care, world out there.

Addendum: I forgot to make mention about the 2012 Year End lists. Whether they were your personal lists you've shared or the official lists your publication made...we thank you. There is so much music produced every year and for our own to even be considered by any of you is a very high honor. We hope you enjoy the next record even more. Three cheers from the three of us, here's to the new year!!!
